Finally the Britanny is on the market! They have already started selling remainder of the units that were not taken by current tenants. This is a condo conversion. That's why, the developer has to wait until offering for existing tenants pass the deadline. Yes, existing tenants got pre-public pricing - and lower market prices. That's the benefit of a conversion.
The Britanny is targeted mostly for first time home buyers. Therefore, no units are available for investors! Currently still have availability of about 50% of the total units. According to the sales associate there, developer set aside $1 million dollars to do a major makeover because the building was built in 1974. Granted that it has passed the test of time, it badly in need of a major makeover, especially on the interior and hallway. They're working very hard, though, to transform the current interior to a condominium that offers today's living style.
They do offer one bedroom+den, one bedroom/den/family room and its two bedroom versions. Prices start from upper-$280's for a one bedroom +den to low mid-$400's for the two bedroom/den/family room. From the inside of model condos I can tell that rooms are spacious or at least it gives me that impression.
The Brittany is located in South Arlington, close to Shirlington and short drive to DC. Here are some of the building amenities: oversized balconies, controlled entry access; tennis courts; club room and pub room; outdoor pool; fitness center; media center and conference room.
If you are a first time home buyer, I've got great news for you! Arlington County will help you purchase a unit there through their home assistance program. If you are a first time home buyer, drop me a line and I'd be glad to explain how the program works or send you the packet by email. However, if you are working with an agent, please...have your agent do the leg work for you :)
